James and Tania are originally from Miami, Florida.  They moved to North Central Florida after graduating college both with Special Education degrees.  For over 20 years they have both taught in the same high school.

James is also a Cross Country and Track Coach at Vanguard High School.  He was twice named Florida Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2016. His athletes have captured many state championships and have continued their athletic careers in various colleges such as University of Florida, University of South Florida, University of North Florida, University of Tennessee, Florida State University, Coast Guard Academy, Davidson, South Alabama, Liberty, Dartmouth, and Boston University.

Besides her animals, Tania’s passion is teaching students with intellectual disabilities.  In 2016, Tania was Marion County’s Teacher of the Year. That same year she was awarded the Magic of Believing Award for the State of Florida.  She believes that her students have made her into a better person. She has learned many valuable lessons from them and truly loves what she does.

James and Tania are the proud parents of 3 boys.  Since their boys are older and more independent, they have more time to spend with their fur-babies.  They do not think they will ever feel like empty nesters because they have an abundant number of four-legged children to love.
